“Many wonderful things are ahead,” said President Russell M. Nelson at the close of the October 2022 general conference. The prophet offered counsel on overcoming the world, affirmed God’s condemnation of abuse, urged Latter-day Saints to seek truth and announced 18 new temples.

Overcome the World and Find Rest

During the Sunday morning session, President Nelson of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints said we can “find rest from the intensity, uncertainty and anguish of this world by overcoming the world through your covenants with God.”

“Making and keeping covenants actually makes life easier!” he said. “Each person who makes covenants in baptismal fonts and in temples — and keeps them — has increased access to the power of Jesus Christ.”

Overcoming the world is an ongoing process, he taught, involving repeatedly embracing and living the doctrine of Christ, cultivating faith through daily repentance, making and keeping covenants, and continually strengthening our testimonies.

Actions like these change our natures and help us become a righteous people who love God and His Beloved Son more than anyone or anything. “As you let God prevail in your life, I promise you greater peace, confidence, joy, and yes, rest,” he said.
