Jamila is the only deaf person in her family. Her other family members never learned more than the basics of ASL, so her childhood was a lonely one. She longed for communication and connection with others. She was introduced to the Church in college and reading the Book of Mormon made her realize she needed to pray with real intent and that the Lord is willing to communicate with those that seek Him.

Using sign language, Jamila shares her feelings and tells how her “eyes have become ears to Hear Him. Serving others helps her see godly traits in herself.”
