All Mormon missionaries serving in Mexico have been reported safe after a 7.2 magnitude earthquake struck the state of Oaxaca on Friday evening.
The quake was reported at 5:39pm, according to the New York Times, shaking buildings as far as 225 miles away in Mexico City “where the memory of a Sept. 19 earthquake that killed more than 300 people in the capital and other parts of the country is still fresh.”
Friday’s earthquake left buildings shaking for more than two minutes afterwards.
The LDS missions most affected by the event were the Mexico Cuernavaca Mission and the Mexico Oaxaca Mission.
