If you tuned in at the very beginning of this weekend’s first session of general conference, perhaps you already heard President Dallin H. Oaks acknowledge the absence of Elder Jeffrey R. Holland from his place on the stand at the Conference Center. You may have noticed a significantly shortened Saturday evening session where another apostle-length talk should’ve been. And we certainly all missed the unique insights, passion, and eloquence that Elder Holland always brings.
There was even some suggestion that Elder Carl B. Cook should just be asked to just come up and speak again…
Elder Holland shared on his personal Twitter account that he and his wife Pat would not be in attendance due to testing positive for COVID-19. Though confined to his home, he still shared a powerful testimony:
I hope you will join me in recognizing and appreciating that all sins and sorrows, all disappointment and depression, all temptation and all tears may be put behind us through the divinity, atoning sacrifice, and triumphant resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ.
