In hot climates or during the summer time, plug your slow cooker into an outlet in the garage. In the winter, I prepare my slow cooker dish the night before and let it sit over night in the garage to keep it cool. In the morning, all I have to do is bring the unit inside and plug it in. Now that I have a unit with a timer and thermometer, I sometimes leave it in the garage to cook during the day.

I appreciate your tips but as far as the slow cooker goes, you obviously haven't lived in Phoenix where the cost to cool the house down far outweighs whatever you would save using a crock pot! But thank you for all the other tips!
