As to your question of what a heavenly parent might do with a child who broke the law we need only look to what our Heavenly Parents DID do when They knew that each of us would repeatedly break the law. They selected the best among all of us who volunteered to come show us the right way, love us and suffer unbelievably to help us return home. Ought we do less?

3 Nephi 30:1-2 is a dramatic appeal by our Lord Jesus Christ to all sinners to repent and turn to him. The message is that there are very few beyond redemption, if they will turn from their sins and be baptized. Thank you for your beautiful message.

For the past few years, I have been a pen pal (no pun intended) with a young man in prison whose mother I home taught. Despite my initial reservations, we became good friends. He was released within the past two weeks, and I wish him well. I think we (as a church and as individuals) could do more for these forgotten souls who have lost their way. They want to repent and come back, and with our encouragement, they can.

Such a beautiful and inspiring article! I echo your sentiments exactly. We are serving in the Sandy Mission of the Addiction Recovery Program and for many months the Utah Prison and some halfway houses were part of it, they have since become their own mission. Those were the most Spirit-filled meetings! Dare I say, even holy? Observing someone in the act of repentance was powerful. There was true wisdom shared from life's hardest lessons from some inmates to others, especially to those who weren't as far along their path of repentance but we're there to learn. I considered it a blessing to have been there to witness those 12 step meetings.. Keep up the wonderful letter writing too and let us know if you could use any help with that. I love writing letters.

In the 1990s,for about a year and a half, I was a home teacher to three men incarcerated in a federal prison. Within the narrow confines of imprisonment, I was able to do some good. It wasn't me---it was the Holy Ghost touching their hearts. I agree that these folks must pay their debt to society, but we must never forget that they are children of God, and worthy of his love. Thanks for the article, and the spirit of love behind it.

Such an inspiring message. My husband is serving time in the state prison. I appreciate your service and love and I know the inmates appreciate the hope you provide. Thank you for your example.

Thank you for all you do for those incarcerated. We have a son who is serving time in prison and it really means a lot to him when people don't judge and take the time to care. You get a different perspective when it hits so close to home. Thank you for your article. I will be sending it to him.

I truly appreciated this article. For the past many years I have had the privilege of meeting with several men in our local state prison. This has been a wonderful blessing for me to share my testimony and to listen to theirs. These are sons of Heavenly Father and I know He loves them. Thank you.

wow this is a wonderful message of those who made bad choices realizing and accepting that they did and who may want to repent. they also know they will not every be outside again but want that peaceful feeling that comes from only one place and that is the Savior Jesus Christ.

Thank you,Becky for the work you do. And I am especially thankful for your love and encouragement for the prisoners. My son is one of the ones who spoke to you that Sunday. What you gave them was so much more than you will ever know. You showed them love and gave them hope. May you be blessed beyond measure.

Very interesting article. Have you read "In the Sanctuary of Outcasts"? Another example of how a prisoner was affected by the curse of leprosy.
