Thank you for focusing on this most urgent and timely subject! I have studied the lives of our Founding Fathers for decades as well as W. Cleon Skousen's writings and it is essential that the rising generation be taught these truths to prepare them with knowledge to defend our religious freedoms which are ESSENTIAL to retaining liberty. Meridian will provide a great service by continuing to provide supportive articles about the intended purposes of the Founders' and religious liberty specifically. We will encourage all we know to read this article!

Have read brother Skousen's book beginning over twenty-five years ago. Have wondered why more members of the church are not more acquainted with these principles, especially in view of the verses within D&C sections 98 and 101.

I have read that book and others that he wrote regarding freedom, and God's law, etc. Love those books. They are right behind me. Thanks for writing this.

Thank you for reemphasizing the need for religion in schools and our Founding Father's quest to keep the federal government out of our state's rights. As a school teacher, I taught some of these principles and some I did not because I was unsure as to how much I should teach. I am grateful for our Founding Father's attitudes that were directly inspired by our loving Heavenly Father so we may have our freedoms today.

Thank you for pointing out that the founders never intended to separate religion and state, only to separate church and state. Yes, there is a big difference. But we have many forces and loud voices in our society today that DO want to not only separate religion and state but do away with religion altogether. They like to justify their position by blurring that distinction between church and religion.
