in order for someone to even consider having an abortion for any of the reasons above... it actually needs to be legal so that it can be performed by competent doctors

I sustain both the church's stance on abortion in the handbook, as well as giving money to whomever the First Presidency and Quorum of the 12 apostles deems worthy of it's funding. This is all about discernment. The Spirit whispers to those holders of the keys of the priesthood when it is necessary. In the Book of Mormon, the Prophet Nephi was commanded to kill Laban for God's purposes. It is no different in my mind.

"Members must not submit to, perform, arrange for, pay for, consent to, or encourage an abortion." However, it's apparently completely okay to donate millions to pro-abortion organizations like the UN and the NAACP...
