I like your article, my sister's family named their children after "trees," but as we are English, Danish, European, Russian, Italian, French, and Spanish. I like regal names, Like Richard, William, Christina, Steven, etc..."bump.", is not a name for a kid....tks

How about a name from your family tree?

You'll come up with a good one! And then depending on his personality there's always the "nick name" !

Yes, please, give your baby a sensible name. I substitute teach and so come across quite a few children's names that cause me to wonder what the parents were thinking. Some names are best for pets. Rebel? Chevy? Vandal? Apolonio? Urban? What's next? Arson? I really feel for the kids who's parents think they are being creative when maybe they are just being self-involved. They don't realize how hard it is to be a kid anyway! Don't give your innocent baby a name that will make him/her seem ridiculous!! - - or whatever it is that makes a class full of kids snicker when your child's name is called.

You could name for virtues: Charity, Hope, Faith, Chastity, Truth, Noble, Valiant (as in Prince), and my all-time favorite, Honor Bright (four daughters, yet hubby would never endorse it!). Is it a 50-50 chance that children might cherish the name and develop accordingly, or that they might rebel? Tough odds. Maybe hubby was right. Anyway, another fun, uplifting, and thoroughly brilliant read. Thanks!
