As a homeschooling mom who will "retire" in a few years as my last child graduates, I agree with everything you have said. As I look back on the difficulties and sacrifices made to homeschool, they pale in comparison to the blessings that have come. I feel no regrets for the decision we made to homeschool and lots of gratitude that we were able to do so. It took us a few years to figure out what we were doing, but figure it out we did, with the help of the Lord. I can't agree more with the statement that the Lord will guide you in what/how to teach your children. I will greatly miss homeschooling when we are done and I'm already telling my kids if they want to homeschool their kids, I'm volunteering to help. :-) And I will keep on learning, as homeschooling has taught me that learning never ends.

This is an interesting article, and I'd like to add some more encouraging words. My aunt is a certified teacher, and for years she homeschooled her 8 children (6 boys and 2 girls). Years later I learned that it wasn't her--it was her husband. He only spent 2 hours a day at it. His secret was to follow the interests of the children. They are all grown now, and they've gone to college and done well. It doesn't take as long to home school as it does in a government school. I love to see this trend toward home schooling.

Oh, how I want to shout out a BIG cheer for this mom!!! As a bookseller, I have sold many books to homeschooling moms, and it makes me so happy to see this trend growing. Barnes & Noble gives a discount for materials used in homeschooling, so be sure and check that out if you are a homeschooling mom. All you need to do is fill out a simple form and provide one of your lesson plans as evidence that you are homeschooling. You do NOT need to be a certified teacher. I believe you are doing the greatest work of your life---what a blessing for your children!
