My understanding of Paul's comments about women keeping silence and not teaching men is that he was referring to the secular Roman law which required this (the Roman Empire was dominant during Christ's era). Paul was not referring to Gospel law, as his teachings about women in other contexts testify. - J Collins Meek, Sherwood Park, Alberta, Canada, Oct 31, 2019

I had the same question and so I went searching. Here was great site (in 5 parts) that helped me better understand this passage in context. https://margmowczko.com/1-timothy-212-in-context-1/

I too would appreciate your sources on this interpretation of a select group

Like TC, I would like to know your sources. I am old enough to have seen different interpretations of this scripture and others regarding gender roles change greatly. Fortunately in the way I always believed they should. But I am old enough to know this was not always what was taught in our faith.

Perfect! This explanation is great and very much needed. Even girls and women who have long been members of our church and other Christian denominations misunderstand that passage in Paul’s writing. And our Relief Society organization has been a model for Russian civic organizations.

Women were part of "about 120 in that upper room" when, in fulfillment of Joel's prophecy, the Holy Spirit was poured out causing "daughters" to speak: this during the FIRST church meeting.
