I have really enjoyed the articles you've been writing lately for Meridian, Lynne. It's easy for me to relate to many of your experiences; so many of them are ordinary things happening to ordinary people like me. Thanks also for the kind words about "Aunt Nettie", who is better known in the church music field nowadays as "Ann Kapp Andersen"! Your words are high praise indeed and inspire me to keep on trying to write beautiful, inspirational music. AKA :-)

Lynne--you have shared another wonderful, thought-provoking, and uplifting article! Thanks so much.

Thank you for sharing this, Lynne. The Holy Ghost used your words to bring a particularly needed gift from Christ to my heart at this time.

@MK Your companion was not under the influence of the Spirit. D&C 46:11 says "to every man is given a gift". That includes you regardless of what that misled companion had to say.

I remember being told by a missionary companion that I had no gifts. He said this under the influence of the spirit. How do you answer that one?

Thank you for this article, Lynn. It reminded me of Elder Holland's talk in conference when he referred to the hymn "There is Sunshine in My Soul Today," particularly the phrase "and Jesus, listening, can hear the songs I cannot sing." My musical talent has always been marginal and I've noticed, with age, that my singing voice is even less pleasant than when I was younger. However, I still love to sing and I know that Heavenly Father considers my reedy melodies to be like a prayer to Him. All of Doctrine and Covenants section 46 is a great catalyst to find our own hidden gifts and even geniuses. Verse 13 states that to know by the Holy Ghost that Jesus Christ is the Son of God is a gift. My particular gift has been from verse 14 - "To others (me) it is given to BELIEVE on their words, that they also might have eternal life if they continue faithful." I take great comfort in knowing that "...all have not every gift given unto them; for there are MANY gifts, and to every man is given a gift by the Spirit of God.o some is given one, and to some is given another, that ALL may be profited thereby." (verses 11 & 12).
