The choice Adam and Eve had was not The Forbidden Fruit versus Having Children, but The Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil (or the tree of death) versus The Tree of Life, or the "An Opposition in all things", or opposites as described in 2 Nephi 2. Even though they were commanded to have children, they knew nothing about how to do that until Eve partook of the Forbidden Fruit, then she understood and explained it to Adam. He understood and partook of the Forbidden Fruit so they could have children.

Thank you for this wonderful article with its deep insight into 'the need for a Saviour." I am grateful that the power of grace of the atonement was made effective before Adam and Eve was sent out of the Garden. As taught in Genesis and the restored gospel; this great gift of Christ--the eternal atonement, allowed Adam and Eve to enter their first covenant with God our Father, and with the Saviour, to start off their works of accepting and receiving salvation. It also allowed them to be clothed and receive the everlasting gospel; bringing the human race to a knowledge of Divine Deity. Once again, thank you!

It is not possible to truly understand the Fall and why Adam and Eve were put in an impossible situation with two opposing commandments. Do this (procreate) but don't do that (eat the fruit). To obey the first you have to disobey the second. I am sure we are also not the first group to endure a Fall so to speak. The Father is a resurrected being so that tells a lot. All I know is that the Father is perfect and so is His plan. The Saviour did the seemingly impossible and we are eternally grateful. However, I can't see that we were ever in danger of being cut off from the Father forever because the plan failed. What kind of plan would do that? Just my 2 cents here.

Adam and Eve must have been been great spirits in the sight of The Father because they walked and talked with Him. Also, their fall (transgression )put part of the law of agency on hold giving satan direct power over us because he was able to chain us to the grave. He could say "my kingdom ".And it took a God "the Saviour " to "save " us.
