He's not married is that correct? Where does this place him now?
McMullin can't win. I am voting for the guy that could win and whose policies most closely match my beliefs.....Donald Trump. Yes, I am LDS.
I can vote for Mr. Trump with a clear conscience because Hillary is pure evil, is pro abortion, desires open borders and wants to increase immigration of middle easterners 550% over what dear leader Obama allowed. All over the world there are warnings that when moslems reach a greater percentage of the population, and then demand sharia law. --- not just for themselves, but to also impose it on the host nation. No thank you.Evan McMullen has no chance of winning the nation, Hillary does. I do not want to contribute in any way to her winning, because it will be the end of America as I know and love it, and the beginning of the reign of King Noah's twin sister. I love and respect our church leaders, but God gave me a brain to decide political things on my own. I shall do that.
1. There have been other articles showing the manner in which Evan could win.
2. I am putting my trust in the Lord, not in the 'powers that be." If it's His will, it will happen.
3. I was going to vote the for Evan as soon as I'd heard about him in August, then decided I couldn't put 'second worst' in office by doing so. I'm back to voting for Evan, regardless of whether he wins or not. This is between my conscience and the Lord.
3. Read your end of days scriptures lately? Its going to happen, whether Clinton wins or not.
Actually the editors of the Deseret News stated that they did not consult with General Authorities before publishing this piece.
In a similar previous article you said "Trump will be SURE not to get his 270 electorate votes" while Hilary MAY not. Hillary IS without a doubt the other side of that coin. Trump loses = Hillary wins!!! The rest of the article was a lot of "IF's", to show how Evan McMullen COULD win! Evan is great, I wish he would win, but is isn't going to happen, the "powers that be" won't let that happen! I hope you can all satisfy your "Consciences" after Hillary gets elected and we lose our Supreme court, our guns, our freedom of speech and our freedom of religion and everything else we love about America. You can prepare yourself with the fact that the Nation may be blaming Utah/Mormons for it; and the start of LDS persecution will begin because we've ticked off everyone that really can win! Remember the story of the Prophet Jeremiah (right before Lehi left Jerusalem) who tried to get the Jews to calm down about the Romans or they were going to get themselves killed??? We've let this go too long and so now we need to deal with what is handed to us in this election and make the best of it so we can change things NEXT time! Trump is Awful, but with Hillary......... there will be no next time!
"Please show me where "The LDS Church" has condemned Trump."
Here ya go:
As linked in the article.
It was obviously pointed at Trump.
And it seems obvious to me that the Desert News editorial calling for Trump to drop out of the race had lots of support in the Church Office Building.
Had the Church been any more direct in its condemnation, it might have run afoul of laws that threaten to strip nonprofit status from churches that get too involved in politics.
The sad thing I hear, is that we're too uninformed to make decisions, and we just vote Mormon ticket regardless of the candidate's experience, accomplishment or platform. Right now Trump is the only pro-choice person running who has a chance to influence the choosing of a Supreme Court Justice. The "holier than thou Mormons" are holding an 11 year old audio against him when all I hear at conference is repentance and forgiveness. Our Mormon memes say Don't hold a person's past against them when they are trying to change. We preach but we seem to fall short in living it when it concerns others outside of our faith. Evan McMullin only has a chance in Utah because he's LDS and many are saying he's going for the Mormon Vote because us UTARDS will vote anyone LDS.
I refuse to be guilt-tripped into voting for a man who, however capable, did not go through the political process in a timely manner. We are not voting for a Prophet, we are voting for someone who will fight for this country and us. Trump is a dirty street-fighter. I can live with that. How smart of Utahans to not want to get any dirt on themselves and find somebody more 'palatable' to make them feel better about their choice. I would have taken more than a second look at McMullen if he had been available when we were looking.
Electing a president in the US has always been about picking out your cleanest dirty shirt and will always be so. We should not hat check our brains at the polling place entrance.
"The LDS church is not a Johnny-come-lately to condemnation of Trump." This previous sentence is a quote from this article. Please show me where "The LDS Church" has condemned Trump. I live in the "mission field" and I must have missed it.
The following statement recently issued by LDS Church leaders says:
"Principles compatible with the gospel may be found in various political parties, and members should seek candidates who best embody those principles."
I will tell Latter-day Saints planning to vote for Trump that the above statement does not imply or condone choosing the lesser of two evils.
According to that statement, Latter-day Saints should vote for Evan McMullin---not because he's LDS, but because he's a true conservative who best embodies gospel principles.
