I realize the focus of the post is the safety and well being of the wife and children, but I must ask, has the father been examined for mental illness? A physician assistant friend of mine who counsels a group of abused wives expressed to me her opinion that about 60 percent of the men whose wives she counsels have husbands suffering from borderline personality disorder. I realize she would still need to leave, but could at least have something to help her understand.
