Omni 1:20 tells us that the first King Mosiah translated the engravings on the large stone found in the land of Zarahemla by the "gift and power of God". This rather suggests that he had "interpreters." If so he would have passed them to his son King Benjamin who would have given them to his son the second King Mosiah. Is this not possible? Interesting article.
