Dear Lynn Johnson, Take a look at the New World Translation prepared by the Jehovah's Witness. Luke 23:43 And he said to him: “Truly I tell you today, you will be with me in Paradise.”+

Dr. Raymond HurstJanuary 20, 2016

The word "paradise" mentioned at the start of the article is a Greek word for garden

A light bulb moment for me on this topic was realizing the importance and significance of "Sola Scriptura" to Protestantism. IMO, the "as far as it is translated correctly", along with the statement about the BoM is really a simple "jumping off point" to our rejection of Sola Scriptura. As foundationa as Sola Scriptura is to Protestantism, and as completly as Mormonism rejects Sola Scriptura, I think this is just one of those things that is irreconcilable, and so it is a never ending part of the discussion and debate between Mormons and Protestants.

I am not sure I understand what you are saying. When I was 17 years old I had a "born again" experience, and the Bible and the Savior became a reality in my life. I had the influence of the HG in my life, but not the gift of the HG. I literally thirsted for the scriptures, and studied both Old and New Testament daily.I often looked up meanings of words in Strong's Concordance, and had a wonderful "spiritual mom" who had different viewpoints than most born again Christians and taught be how to study the Bible by subject. I joined the church 17 years later. During that 17 years, I met a variety of Christians from groups such as The Navigators, who memorize the KJ version word for word, including every comma, period, other evangelical groups, and all sorts of Christian groups and people.I also met many famous Christians in the non-LDS world. In college there were a variety of Christian groups to attend, and I belonged to a Bible study group organization, but forget its name. Everyone I knew believed the Bible to be correctly translated.. I attended many traditional churches, and Bible based churches. I didn't meet anyone at all who felt it was translated incorrectly, All believe the earth was created in 7 days. Most read it based on their church doctrine, rather really reading what it says.Of course there were various doctrinal perceptions. It was this narrowness of thinking, and my not reading it according to any particular doctrine, that finally led me to the church. I lost all of my Christian friends, because they thought that I joined a cult that did not believe in Jesus Christ. Many of my cousins are Baptists. They read the Bible according to their doctrine, and several have asked me what I believe about Jesus Christ, but when it comes to other matters of belief we have to agree to disagree. I think there are revised versions because KJ has antiquated language that need help of a concordance to understand. So, just share my experience before I joined. Afterwards, I had some new ideas to accept, but because I had studied the Bible so much, when I read the first page of the Book of Mormon, I knew it was scripture.

What version are you quoting for Luke 23:43? None of the 23 other versions of the Bible listed on biblehub.com differ from the King James in having the comma before "today;" they have the same message as the KJB.

I DIDNT even have to read the entire article to know this is true. I remarked on a different article you wrote about the bible and what I said there stands. I was taking british literature when I was abt 41yrs old and or English lit. a chapter was studied about the bible and how it was chained to the altar in another church and only the priests read it. this chapter also went through how the bible was translated and made to sound more poetic. groups of people got together to do this. then it talks about how it went through different religions ..like we have the guttenburg bible etc....and we can see over the years that the bible has changed even in the 1970's to make it read easier...and the red letter bible etc...so many different kinds of bibles.
