Others wish that time would speed up. The lonely, housebound, infirmed, enslaved, and those living in chronic pain often wish for shorter days.

When you are 5, one year is 1/5 or 20% of your entire life. When you are 50, one year is 1/50 or 2% of your entire life. No wonder each year seems shorter as you age. According to your perception at age 50, one year is shorter than when you were 5.

My favorite blogger recently posted about the "Fourth Quarter Comeback", where you spend the last quarter of the year trying to accomplish something you may have fallen down on earlier in the year. I did it; it was great. Now I'm planning to work with quarterly goals. "First Quarter Comeback" sounds a bit bizarre, but I know what one specific thing I want to accomplish in the first quarter of 2016. I think having a three month deadline with small goals is going to help me get some things finished. It took me the first three months of 2015 to transcribe three of my husband's letters from Viet Nam. I finished the stack off in two months of the last quarter. Next quarter will will his youth up until his mission. Having a short term goal helps me get through the tedious parts -- and many kinds of projects have tedious parts. Thanks for all the inspiration you have given me over the years.
