I really appreciate this teaching of the symbolic nature of the Creation account - as much as I did when I first heard Brother Degn teach these concepts at BYU Education Week many years ago. The numerous patterns in scripture, in the temple, and in the Earth - there to reveal and elevate the Plan of Salvation - have opened my mind in significant ways as I have learned to see them. It is true and good that scholarship - letters, language, history - is helpful in our path of learning, but there is something very “artistic” (using the other side of the brain) about seeing the Plan of God for His children in this way, through symbols. It is elevating and exciting to the visions of eternity. It seems to be the preferred way our Lord uses to teach us heavenly things. Thank you so much!

Thank you Brother Degn! This is profound and beautiful and mind expanding! I loved attending adult classes you have taught and this article reminds me why I loved them so much. Thank you for your ability to see and understand so deeply and for sharing it with us.
