Absolutely loved this article. Lots of things to think about that I might possibly be trifling with. However, I adore having scriptures on my phone. I turn off all notifications and delve much more deeply into them than I would reading paper scriptures. I love the ability to add notes and link to conference talks and articles. It adds so much depth and meaning to my scripture study. And when I'm waiting at a doctor's office it's lovely to be able to read the scriptures instead of a magazine.

An excellent and timely article, well written. I was made aware about 6 months ago of a website that is dedicated to counsel and advice in regards to church policy's and practice's, particularly the wearing of the garment, the website is geared to younger members and couples so more than likely is run by younger members. Some of it is quite frankly, shocking. The law of chastity and tithing are a couple of others that some of the things I've heard or been told members have said about it just leaves me shaking my head. Nothing much is sacred anymore, the apostle Peter warned about the time when that kind of environment would exist. Excellent article.

A brother in my Ward testified that he had a dream. He was standing at the back of the chapel when Christ descended to the pulpit. He said "turn your head. You are not worthy to look upon me". He was devastated and, after some time searching his life experiences, realized that at his work he had participated in some unclean dirty jokes and laughed. God's gift of procreation is sacred.

While I agree with the overall conclusion, I am going to push back against one point. A general authority talk warning the members not to "steady the ark" by writing the general authorities by assuring the members these men knew what they doing and did not need outside information had an extremely detrimental effect, even an eternal effect, on the life of someone I loved. I had information about something they were dealing with that it turned out they did not have. It was critical information. They made terrible choices, completely misjudging the person. The results were disastrous. But I had followed the cousel given. Do not assume leaders have all the facts. Do not be silenced by advice such as that given in this article. People's lives can be destroyed. The consequences go on for generations. These are fallible men.

A sincere thank you for sharing your insights (and can i call it, testimony) on the matter of Trifling. I tend to joke around a lot. More so when nervous or when the atmosphere is heavy, (sad) I'm that person that will remind you in a funeral that the person was fun, out going and down right hilarious. I look on and for the bright side of situations. I am thankful for this personality traits, while I find myself needing to keep the act of Trifling with moments at the forefront of my thoughts and actions. I know I was blessed with this trait to use for good by way of uplifting, comforting not only myself but those around me in need. You've inspired me to dig deeper in my life for other possible areas where I maybe Trifling. Again thank you for sharing your article. Donna
