Having read several books on the Mountain Meadow Massacre in high school I was surprised and grateful for the accurate account in the book Saints, put out by The Church. My nonactive daughter and her nonmember husband watched this series and told me about it. I acknowledged that the horrific incident did take place but that responsibility lay with a group of leaders and followers who acted without authority and in response to fear. I have never laid blame on Brigham Young. I have ancestors who had slaves. I was raised observing prejudice. I chose to live differently and will not live my life apologizing for others choices, nor do I excuse their behavior. Learn the truth for yourself and if challenged state the facts.

What we have here is "The Protocols of the Elders of Utah."

I agree with Sister Smith. Netflix runs a few of my favorite programs, but I refuse to support the promotion of these dangerous distortions of history, so I have unsubscribed.

The series was poorly written, filmed and acted. Completely cringe worthy. It won't stand the test of time.

During FOX News broadcast yesterday 1/27 of the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwietz (?sp), a speaker early in the broadcast (I tuned in late = no name) gave a powerful perspective on the power of stories as the basis used to initiate Hitler's (et al) actions/movement. He then illuminated the power of the electronic technology being the great "story teller" of now. He warned of the danger of being mislead again (particularly the younger generation...our children) = citing 87% over age 40 believe Israel has a right to exist, and under 40, only 40 some %. It is manifest strongly with protests/riots on the liberal college campuses of our nation today. These are supposedly the learned. He went on to say how these prejudiced stories ultimately create hatred, and then negative action. I thought also of the crusades, the American slavery and other campaigns, even the Good Samaritan.. A reference was made to Nelson Mandela and his teaching that a baby is not born with hate...they are taught/learn it. To which I close with the thought of "Man's inhumanity to man!" and "As a man thinketh, so is he." How sad, but Satan has been a sore loser from the beginning and does all he can to throw sand in the gears of Heavenly Father's plan and the prophets have foretold that in the last days perilous times shall come. Thanks for your article and thoughts. I particularly appreciated the Church' detailed totally transparent research and publication of the Mountain Man Massacre that was issued a year or two ago. Like the Joseph Smith Papers, it is what it is and the gospel is perfect, although it's members are a work in progress. (We need to remember this in all that we take in to our minds/hearts about all things). The Lord will judge who He will, but we are required to forgive all! Yes, how timely Pres. Nelson's invitation to be a peacemaker. For if it is to be....it's up to me! (Which is the only person we're really responsible for and can "control" in the end.) We may not be able to control the actions around us...but we can control how we react to them. (Viktor Frankl said from Nazi death camp = They can take away my liberty, but they can't take away my freedom). AGENCY = the greatest principle and cornerstone in the Plan of Salvation.)

Those who profess to believe in pluralism, diversity, and minority rights, have an interesting way of changing their tune when it comes to a minority ( in this case a religious minority) that they don't take a liking to.

Just letting everyone know that I cancelled NETFLIX!! Pure evil what they did, and there have been other such films this company has produced. Thank you, Maurine, for your wonderful and TRUE article! Brigham Young was a great noble man, and the saints that followed him to the West in great numbers wrote about Brigham's virtue and leadership and love.

Sounds like it's time to cancel Netflix
