CJ Williams, my father also was among liberators who first walked into Ordruff. I too have pictures. We should compare!
My uncle Alan served with the British 11th Armoured Division that liberated Bergen-Belsen concentration camp. The horrors he saw there, including the walking dead and thousands of unburied corpses pushed him over the edge mentally. If we are not extremely vigilant, the evil mindset that created those concentration camps will do it again!
My father's unit helped liberate Mauthausen and Ordruff concentration camps. He was a medic with the 65th Infantry Division in the ETO and treated many of the Jews there. I have his snapshots. What he told me and showed me that happened there is burned into my soul. Hitler and those under him were Evil Walking.
Your photos won't change bad people's minds. The Bible says love can. I don't know. And billions won't bring back a loved one. When will people ever understand?
I hav not been to Auschwitz but I have been with my wife to Dachau and Theresienstadt Ghetto. at both places we felt a terrible feeling of loss horror and evil. Thank you for sharing your pictures and to remind us all of the terrible events of WW2, also to explain to those who do not believe that those terrible episodes that occurred in the 1930's and 1940's.
My father was one of the American soldiers who helped liberate Dachau. I am very grateful to those who served so long ago now and risked their lives to come to the aid of others.
I have not been to Auschwitz bit I have been to Dachau and Theresienstadt Gheto. Both were places where you feel the terror and coldness of the places with a terrible sense of evil and foreboding. Many thanks for your foresight in taking these pictures to remind those people who may be in an attitude of unbelief that such a horror could actually happened.
