In some instances, maybe it would be helpful for this couple to speak privately together before disciplining. This wouldn't be possible all the time, but if they could come to an agreement BEFORE disciplining, they could show a united front. They might even say to their children, "Your mom (or dad) and I need to talk about this." This allows time to cool off and shows unity. Carefully Avoid words that make the other parent the "bad guy" or one to be feared.
