What about Helaman chapter 4?

GrannyFebruary 12, 2022

Elder Carlos Godoy visiting our stake related a story about Elder Eying. They were in the church building cafeteria eating lunch and someone asked Elder Eyring who he though thought would win the presidential election. Elder Eyring's response: It doesn't matter. The things in list 1 strike me as Martha Worries. Some are not important in the long run, some feel important but we don't know the answer to. Better to choose the better part and focus on list 2, keep the two great commandments, and wait on the Lord.

I live in a town with a major university, we get a dozen or two BYU grad students move here to finish their degrees. What doctrines of the gospel are they being taught at BYU? Besides their educational arrogance, they bring with them a gospel learning that is mixed with the theories of men. In discussions, their arrogance leads them to override us who have less formal education. I am seeing Satan's teachings mixed with gospel truth's everywhere with these 'kids'. Are the Brethren aware of this?

Remember, His Church is an international church (not just a Utah or USA church), and my informal conversations show that many LDS members outside the USA view our politics as ridiculous, unbelievable toward the fair treatment of people and not very Matthew 25-like. We in the USA should re-focus our daily behaviors to match the Big Ten Commandments and the many related Christian (and human) virtues and quite worrying about one-up-man-ship, inhumane treatment of others, contentions, and divisions among us (read the BofM). If we are not being Christlike minute-by-minute, then we have yet a lot to learn in this mortal probation.

In the beginning, “… an angel of God who was in authority in the presence of God, who rebelled against the Only Begotten Son whom the Father loved and who was in the bosom of the Father, was thrust down from the presence of God and the Son, And was called Perdition, for the heavens wept over him—he was Lucifer, a son of the morning. Doctrine and Covenants 76:25-26 Lucifer, aka Satan, wanted all to be save al collectively and the glory of such would be given to him. Since the beginning of earth’s time, he has pursued this agenda in Heaven and on the Earth. “Our individual salvation depends on collective salvation.” This is what Satan, the Devil, teaches to man. Those that profess this are Anti-Christs denying the individual salvation of the only begotten son of our Father in Heaven. Many members have voted for and supported such believers of collective salvation. Christ Jesus teaches, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” John 14:6 In the Last days before our Savior’s second coming “…there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect. Matthew 24:24 King James Version Members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints “…are called to bring to pass the gathering of mine elect; for mine elect hear my voice and harden not their hearts;” Doctrine and Covenants 29:7 But not all members of the Church of Jesus Christ will be saved in these last days. They will seek other paths like collective salvation before individual salvation. Collective salvation is a quasi-contract religious concept that is the antithesis of individual or personal salvation. It is a mandate of social justice which projects rights not normally given by the laws of a country or state. Its premises are based on dialogue, not accepted doctrine. It supports the perpetual Marxist class struggle for the self-claimed “divine plan of a socialist nirvana under the concept of progressive millennialism. Those that believe in collective salvation often claim Christianity and other religions as their base religion, but see all religions as one of many paths toward salvation. They stress that any form of salvation must be first a collective action of society becoming one in equality by overturning the past sins of human society and the pillage of the environment.

The Earth does not need another Savior. D&C 104:17 For the earth is full, and there is enough and to spare; yea, I prepared all things, and have given unto the children of men to be agents unto themselves. We did not create the earth. We cannot destroy the earth. The earth will serve God's purpose regardless of what we do. The scriptures are full of instructions on how to behave and where to look for guidance. When the questions have already been answered in the scriptures' why do you keep asking hoping to receive another answer? Are you occupied with unprofitable meats? Hebrews13:1-9 1 Let brotherly love continue. 2 Be not forgetful to entertain strangers: for thereby some have entertained angels unawares. 3 Remember them that are in bonds, as bound with them; and them which suffer adversity, as being yourselves also in the body. 4 Marriage is honourable in all, and the bed undefiled: but whoremongers and adulterers God will judge. 5 Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee. 6 So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me. 7 Remember them which have the rule over you, who have spoken unto you the word of God: whose faith follow, considering the end of their conversation. 8 Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever. 9 Be not carried about with divers and strange doctrines. For it is a good thing that the heart be established with grace; not with meats, which have not profited them that have been occupied therein. Follow the Prophet: 11 And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; 12 For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ: 13 Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ: 14 That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive; Conspiring Men and Women are all around you. Follow the prophet. D&C89:4 Behold, verily, thus saith the Lord unto you: In consequence of evils and designs which do and will exist in the hearts of conspiring men in the last days, I have warned you, and forewarn you, by giving unto you this word of wisdom by revelation Learn to follow God's plan for you rather than expecting God to embrace your plan.

Things can be so simple - but we make things so HARD! The Prophet Joseph Smith said “We teach Correct principles and our people govern themselves. Our Primary children learn a wonderful song “Follow the Prophet and don’t go astray. Personally our family “follows the Prophets” and we don’t have anything close to your lists -it’s quite easy actually! I have been a convert of the Church since 1971 and I wavered ONCE when it comes to Church history, doctrine and conflict. A wiser older member at the time gave me some excellent counsel to me when questions came up: “for those of us that don’t believe in revelation, there is no adequate explanation and for those of us that do believe in revelation we stand by until the Lord speaks!” We have found this excellent counsel time and time again. .

I can relate to many of your statements. We've been trained to see and know right from wrong, so it's easy to line up with those ideas that make up what we believe to be our core values. The counsel to focus on the realization that most of us are family centered is a great help. The other help is to focus on the bigger picture of mortal life and our eternal life. A lot less time consuming the headlines and more time in the Book of Mormon has been the greatest relief to this distraction.
