I love this story which has particular significance for me as John McCarthy, the man who received the vision spoken of by Captain Pond, is my great-great-grandfather. John was a prolific writer and I have many original letters and poetry he wrote to his children and others.

My Great Great Grandparents (Richard George Allen and Esther Hayes) were on the Julia Ann the year before, being a group of Latter-Day Saints being transported from Australia to Los Angeles. In my family
