I love this story which has particular significance for me as John McCarthy, the man who received the vision spoken of by Captain Pond, is my great-great-grandfather. John was a prolific writer and I have many original letters and poetry he wrote to his children and others.

This story has personal interest for me. My ancestors were on the voyage that carried Saints the previous year.

What a wonderful story. What a frightening situation, shipwrecked at night with no light, but saved by the Hand of God
