The town/community of Bloomington Indiana was very blessed to have had you here. Although I was inactive at the time, because I'd married a non-member, and didn't see the point in 'forcing' it on him...my mother (Hazel Brinson) sang your praises (literally). My husband joined the church in 1982, and so many other church members were thrilled that you had been here, amongst us. Thank you for your lingering influence. I now tell my 6-7 yr-old primary kids that the person who wrote so many of our songs we sing on Sunday, were written by a woman who once lived and went to church right here in Bloomington...!!

I so enjoyed reading of your many homes... Can totally relate... I am on my 37th move in my lifetime and this is not the last move... I have lived in the North, South, East & West... So in the mountains, valleys, deserts & coast... My ex-husband also attended the Defense Language Institute in Monterey for Vietnamese & Russian... Became a Russian Linguist/CT on submarines working closely with the Navy Seal Teams... Our life was anything but uneventful... I can honestly say I loved each new adventure challenging as they may have been... Loved criss-crossing this beautiful country on each transfer... Every American should experience the diversity that we are... I did have favorites as far as climate... I prefer the coast as I am healthier there... Don't handle humidity or desert dryness well at all... But loved all the wonderful friendships made in every area of the country... Miss the beautiful Falls in the NorthEast, the gorgeous Springs in East & South... And the wonderful booming thunder storms in Provo... Then there is all the different cultures & foods from each region... Extremely grateful that on each move we had an immediate family with the church... I would immediately get involved in church & community activities as I knew we wouldn't be there long... Wonderful memories, great adventures... But I must admit I am ready to settle in one place... But would be willing to serve a mission or two whoever The Lord calls me... Thank you Lord for the memories as I know I was sent to these different ares to help and lift another and sometimes to lift myself as well...

I just read your article and was amazed at how much our lives have run parallel. It was fun to remember some of the wonderful people in the ward in Pacific Grove. (My husband, Jeff, and I lived in an apartment there (about a block from the beach and lighthouse), while I went to the Naval Postgraduate School. Later, we lived in a tiny town in Oregon (while he went to grad school), we both went to BYU, and now we live in Tyngsboro, MA. For awhile, Harvard was in our ward. And our family is heavily involved in music. I have always loved counterpoint, so I have loved teaching primary children your songs over the years. Thanks for sharing!

Thanks so much for being a part of the Garn and Marian Brady family in Vale, Oregon for the short time they were there. The Saunders and Kapps mean so much to them and, then I get to have your cousin Larry as my math teacher and his brother in one of my classes at Ricks College. My parents left part of their hearts in Vale because of experiences and friendships that have never stopped blessing their lives. Consequently, we, their children have been blessed also, including Steve being my sister's home teacher at one time. Thanks again, home is where your heart is!

Janice-
I grew up in neighboring Western Springs -- the town just east of Hinsdale, IL. And -- rode the same Burlington train into Chicago.
Janice --- thank you so much for your great primary songs. They always remind me of the love that our Heavenly Father and Jesus have for us -- all are so pure and family based.

Oh the sweet memories of growing up in Vale at the same time as the Kapp and Saunders families! And here I am still living in Vale and looking/feeling like those old timers Janice refers to so many years ago. There should be a sign along the freeway saying "Welcome to Malheur County -- set your watch back 20 years." Janice, thanks for the memories.

Thank you so much for your words of wisdom. Recently I moved back to Sandy, Utah, after a 13 year move to beautiful Cache Valley. The opportunity presented itself for me to live in my brother's home while he and his wife serve a mission. I questioned whether I would ever be able to feel at "home" in someone else's space, with their furniture, pictures, d

Grandpa Boardman said, "Every place you are is home---make it a good one." I have loved National Geographic and feel a kinship to our entire earth and into our solar system!
We now live in a small zion called Raymond, Alberta. It is much like Provo was in the 40s and 50s.

I am so thankful that the Kapp Family moved to Vale, Oregon. They introduced me to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and Jacob Kapp baptized me. Then I had the great blessing of becoming a member of their family when I married Janice's brother Jack. The eternal love of my life. I can testify that my special sister "Janice Kapp Perry" has always been a loving and positive person no matter what is happening in her life. She testifies of the truths of the Gospel in all of her music and in the way she conducts her daily life.
love you sis

Janice, you came to our home once with a dear music teacher and friend, Clara C. of our childrens when we lived in CA. You tried speaking with our daughter, taking her on a walk. She was in a theatre group and could sing, also having a bit of a rough time spiritually. She is about to make her first CD and go on a tour playing her guitar and singing songs she has written. Much of her music is about life as she has experienced it as we have lived in many places with my husband having been in the Marines. I can say, as you did, that each place holds a special place in my heart, put there by new friends, experinces and surroundings.
Thank you for putting things into perspective with your article and your beautiful sweet voice singing...no one coud have sung it better!

I have lived in many places throughout the U.S., from a horse ranch in Iron Mtn, MI., to many places throughout MN & MT, to several places in ID including a small mining town called Walllace,, ID., WA & OR to our present location of the great state of TX. With each new place I find there are just as many beautiful places as the last. It's hsrd to pinpoint which one I could lay my heart in. I guess TX comes the closest. At least right where we are at this time in our lives. It could change with the next Great adventure.
