Gene, you have the courage of Captain Moroni! Gene and Martha are sacrificing a great deal to stand up for their and our beliefs. I am certain that the Lord will bless you. Thank you Gene and Martha!
Dear Brother and Sister Proctor,
I love Meridian Magazine! I have been a faithful reader and contributor for many years. In fact I was first introduced to the Magazine by my fellow ward member Kathy Kidd when we lived in Virginia in the early 90's. I am so grateful for the work that you do in sharing the light of the gospel and building up the Kingdom of God here on earth. I know that our Heavenly Father is pleased with your courageous and valiant efforts on His behalf. I am saddened to realize that in some way the choices I have made in my communications have caused you concern. I ask for your forgiveness and pray that Father's choicest blessings may be poured out upon you and yours. May God continue to magnify you in your righteous endeavors.
I am very grateful to call Gene and Martha Schaerr friends. Martha was the organizer who pulled us together to fight against the amendment on recognition of gay marriage in Maryland. We fought the good fight with large groups from other churches but lost in this very blue state of Maryland. Gene and Martha stand up for their beliefs; they walk the walk not just talk about it. I wish Gene and Martha the very best. They are making sacrifices most of us would never make! They are standing up for their beliefs!
Thank You Gene Schaerr for your courage and integrity may Heavenly Father's choicest blessings be with you and your family. your in my prayers.
Thank You Gene Schaerr. You are a true patriot. Love GOD and country. Serve God and Country
Attacks on The pledge of Allegiance, Gay Marriage, Prayer in The Schools, The Abortion issue, confusion created with separation of church and state; all of this is about making more money for our now greedy law industry and has very little to do with the issues themselves. Thank goodness for an an attorney who does not buy into this nonesense of preying on the public and taking advantage of these rediculous, fabricated, frivilous issues that have invaded our common good and violate the intentions of our founding fathers.
Thank God for people who value their principles above the almighty dollar!
Thank you, Mr. Schaerr!
I do admire what Gene Schaerr is undertaking. It is hard just standing up for traditional marriage just in my own family, let alone in front of a nation. People in my family feel totally comfortable sharing their beliefs that differ from mine, yet if I have the audacity to say what I believe, I hear a barrage of accusations and wrath. I don't know what happened to civility about the issues at hand. I know it sounds childish, but I don't understand why I can't go, united arm in arm with my gay family members, to public debates in a feeling of mutual love and respect for each other's right to voice our individual opinions. Now, I wonder how many people will attack my comment. It is their right, but some day I hope we can change the laws we don't like and still treat people with respect. I'm not sure if I am paranoid, but I am afraid to even put anything on my Facebook page supporting traditional marriage because of the backlash that will certainly come as it has for other friends of mine. Also, it is a little unnerving to go to the capitol Tuesday night not knowing how many will be there to insult and humiliate traditional marriage supporters. I will go anyway. . . .
Thank you, Gene Shaerr! You are a hero.
Thank You! This is what we need more and more of. Let us claim back our country whatever the price! We must love God more than money.
Thank you, Brother Schaerr for exhibiting courage at a time where the most basic truths are required to be defended in a very public way.
Hats off to Gene Schaerr! I applaud his courage and willingness to fight for the traditional family.
Although it's admirable that Gene Schaerr has taken this new job, he will be very well compensated (financially) for it. Of course he's making sacrifices, but I just wanted to point out that he won't be working for free.
I applaud Mr. Schaerr for standing for his and many others convictions. It's so sad that people cave in to social pressure. Right is right! Good job Gene!
Not that it would ever happen, of course, but I wonder if these law firms could be sued for refusing to take on a new client in the same way that a baker and a flower shop were recently, and successfully, sued for declining work offered by same sex couples?
