Great article. Something that needs to be said again and again and again in the church. I know for a fact that many of the callings I have received were not because I was the right person but because I needed to learn something, that there was some part of me the Lord wanted to change, and the calling was the catalyst to make it happen. Sometimes I ruffled feathers, but nearly everyone was gracious in letting me learn and grow. The church is perfect, and it is run by imperfect people, and we all need to realize that. The Lord is doing the best he can with the tools he has, and the end result is that we become Christlike as we diligently strive to fulfill those callings.

Very helpful! In a recent situation I found that even a private discussion would not have been productive. However, just because I may have greater experience in some administrative capacity, I need to remember "we are not running progams - we are growing people' in our Church roles.

When, as young newly weds, my wife and I were called to do a job, there were monthly stake training meetings. These were taught by knowledgeable people. The round trip was in excess of 100 miles to attend these meetings. Now, we are lucky to see quarterly training sessions. The last one I attended saw a scurry of leaders trying to find one who could meet with me. It ended up being a total waste of time. The only good thing, only a 7 mile drive to the stake center.

Thank you for the ammunition that I needed... or should I say the validation and Scriptural support needed;-) This can be applied to other relationships, to help me continue following the correct path with others, to give them the slack I want as well.
