the title of the article did not quite fit the subject matter but I got the point. The example you used of your seminary teacher's gave me an additional message of how careful we need to be about making any behaviors a test of love. We are need someone who loves us unconditionally.

I have been there, JeaNette, and I thank you so much for your wise comments. I had a parent that withdrew their love when I failed them - in school ("You got a B in Economics? EXPLAIN!), in church (I joined the LDS Church against their every wish), and in my social life (wearing my clothes "wrong," talking about boys instead of school, etc.). I still struggle with those scars every day and have decided enough is enough - I'm going to counseling to shed those shackles. Thank you again for your powerful words!
