Thank you so much for reminding us of a trap that is so easy to fall into. There are so many ways we can be tempted to compromise our principles in order to be liked or to "look good" to others. I keep reminding myself that it is my Heavenly Father that I want to please. As our society continues to move away from God, we are seen more and more as a "peculiar people". The Lord requires us to have courage to do the right thing regardless of what others may think of us. This is one way we offer sacrifice to him, being willing to lay aside our pride and an unhealthy need to be "liked" by everyone at any cost.

JeaNette, Thank you for writing this article. I think you do a great job of pointing out our intent - how important it is - relative to our relationships. I have also learned that Heavenly Father's approval is the only approval that I need (love the Lord, thy God), and my intent to love myself (as God loves me) so that I can love my neighbor as myself. Only Heavenly Father knows me well enough to give appropriate approval. Plus, He loves perfectly. We do need to reach out to others so that they feel approved of - reflecting God's love and approval of them.
