Right on! As ward music chair, I am choosing one beautiful hymn that goes with the topic but they don't know well each week that can just be listened to. They are encouraged to read along and learn! Wish I could play prelude.

Thank you!!! I have been one of those organists/pianists for much of my life. I LOVE the hymns, and have been mostly grateful for all the callings and opportunities I have had to accompany. I have often felt that the music--especially prelude and postlude-- isn't even noticed by most of the congregation; so your article is very validating!!

We are not allowed to sing yet either. We don't realize how much we miss singing the words of the hymns until we are not allowed to do it in Sacrament meeting. I like to take my small hymn book with me and read the words as the pianist plays.
