It is a only by listening to those who disagree with us that we will be able to influence them. Telling them what to do won't change their minds.

I am with you except the abortion issue. We all need to do what we can to end abortion. We need to ask ourselves why am I indifferent to what is happening with the killing of babies and why am I not adding my voice to the fight to end it.

Yes, we do need to be careful of either/or thinking and we need to be cautious of the division contention creates. Having said that, there are many things that truly ARE black and white. We live in a society where the line between good and evil is getting pretty blurry. As members of the church, we need to take a stand for truth and righteousness, even when it's not popular. When Moroni hoisted the Title of Liberty I don't think he was concerned about anyone getting their feelings hurt.

There is nothing like the TRUTH to obtain balance

I think for COVID-19 there is a very important point that the author just glossed over, and that is that flattening the curve has nothing to do with people catching the virus. It only has to do with making sure that the number of cases don't exceed the capacity of medical institutions. We have somehow turned that around in our heads and discussions to mean that no one else should get the virus, which is NOT going to happen.

I really appreciate your careful handling of a difficult subject at this singular time. There is such a need for the nuanced thinking that you propose and I’m grateful for your strong advocacy. May we all seek to work together for the common good.

Thank you for this timely and well-written article. Balance is such a difficult thing to find and achieve, but it is the hallmark of ethical and emotional maturity.

Insightful! Thanks for verbalizing what I have intrinsically felt for years...that everyone has a legitimate perspective. We must find our common ground if we're ever going to overcome the father of all contention.

Thank you. I have just been lamenting the fact that too many people are not listening anymore. There is too much divide. Your article is timely for the thoughts I have been having.
