The colonies in Mexico were founded in 1885. In 1912, Pancho Villa's men gave the saints 24 hours to leave with what they could carry with them. About 1918, after the revolution has subsided, some of the colonists returned. The colonies have contributed greatly to church leadership over the years. Names like Eyring, Kimball, and Romney come to mind. But living there has always had its challenges. After the 1912 exodus, many lost everything they had built up during their time living there.

truly most heartbreaking.

These murderous "Gadianton Robbers" of our day deserve nothing less than the justice they received in the Book of Mormon and that is absolute destruction. They are a plague, not only on Mexico, but on the whole earth that must be eradicated.. In the last year more than 68,000 people in the USA alone died from drug overdose with most of those drugs coming from Mexico via these cartels. 60,000 people in Mexico are "missing" in these drug wars. Mass graves of men, women and children are regularly being found in Mexico. The distasteful news of these finds rarely makes it to our media sources because it is disturbing to hear or read. Look at what the Nephites did to destroy these thugs and then, "liken the scriptures" to ourselves. Allowing this secret combination to continue to live makes us complicit in their murderous crimes.
