I hope you don’t mind me using your ideas on emergency packs. We are having an evening of emergency preparedness and I’m doing emergency kits. I really enjoyed your article in meridian magazine and it makes so much sense than what to pack. I purchased a lot of single items and noticed there is lots of salt added, I some one is concerned could the take sodium tab. I was listening to the director of FEMA and he said to have a 7 day emergency pack. Thank you again for good information. Jan

I'd caution against completely avoiding salt as salt is important in maintaining hydration (salt = electrolytes).
