“Prophecy is but history in reverse—a divine disclosure of future events.“ Ezra Taft Benson Jan 1974 Nephi saw Washington and his struggles:1 Nephi 11 17 And I beheld that their mother Gentiles were gathered together upon the waters, and upon the land also, to battle against them. 18 And I beheld that the power of God was with them, and also that the wrath of God was upon all those that were gathered together against them to battle. 19 And I, Nephi, beheld that the Gentiles that had gone out of captivity were delivered by the power of God out of the hands of all other nations.

Once again we see that our founding fathers truly did worship the "Great God, our King." I am so grateful for their perseverance and sacrifices. How I wish we had more political leaders today following their pattern of faith and obedience. Articles like this spark greater patriotism and remind us that our Heavenly Father is still in charge. We have a great obligation to live the gospel with all of hearts with a spirit of thanksgiving, and also to retain our promises of freedom and prosperity.

Such a great reminder, Maurine! Thank you! Along with Tim Ballard's book, another great source is Seven Miracles that Saved America by Chris and Ted Stewart. It has stories in it that are breathtaking, and demonstrates that God is intimately involved in the forming of America, and the preservation of it's freedoms, so it can be a beacon to bless the whole world. I highly recommend it.

Wonderful! Love hearing the quotes of Washington showing he was so close to God in commanding the troops in laying the groundwork for freedom and liberty for all

This article is only part of the story. There is another historical matter of great significance. It is the mission of Joan of Arc who in 1428-9 succeeded in breaking the back of English power in France and enabling the removal of English dominion within 20 years of her death on the pyre. Except for her assumed impossible success, France would have been overrun if the English managed to capture the bridge over the Loire River protected by the city of Orleans. That she prevented that capture enabled France to survive as a nation. The success of our independence according to two historians I researched, wrote that except for the role of France, independence would have likely failed. France provided 63 ships, 22,000 sailors, and 12 soldiers to that battle. Her true story (I like Mark Twain's book) is tragically missing in American history and among Christian writers. Yes, Mark Twain spent 12 years researching English and French records and 2 years writing. Of her Winston Churchill wrote that she had no equal in 1000 years. Other historians and writers say she has no equal in all recorded history. It is an intensely spiritual experience and one of direct involvement of Heavenly messengers. .

It is remarkable that at this point in history, my nation, the British, were engaged in a major war against Napoleon, which was prioritised. This drew away most of our military power from the Americas & along with the incompetency of our generals allowed the fledgling Revolutionary army to led by an inspired leader to.triumph. The Lords hand was there as it was many years later when a defeated British Army was miraculously snatched from Dunkirk to fight on & form a foundation for the Allied armies that eventually defeated an evil tyranny. Not to forget a small RAF force that was later able to defeat the larger Luftwaffe. I think that both of our nations, as remnants of ancient Israel, are watched over by the Lord , but we must hearken to the warnings by ancient prophets, that we will lose his protection if we turn from Him as many are doing today.

This is such a beautiful reminder of how we should be living our lives today. We definitely need the divine he!I of God to get this country back to what God established it to ve.

Beautiful reminder. Much appreciated today. A day when my life is simple and can be reflective on our founding fathers and mothers. Their resilience and devotion to covenant with God and have faith in all might to keep moving forward.

There are many examples of how spiritual & physical intervention has helped the outcome of battles in wars and the one mentioned in the text is a very good example. There are a number of scriptures that is an affirmation of this and the creation of the United States of America, D&C 101:79-80, being an excellent example. There are a number of things that happened during WW II during battles, the Battle of Midway and what happened there, are excellent examples as how Heavenly Father helped this nation against a brutal, aggressor nation of Japan and there are other significant happenings during that brutal war that helped the U.S., and allies, win the effort.
