If you are interested, here is the beginnings of a rebuttal to Dr. Hilton's book published by another active LDS LMFT whose writings I follow: https://scriptureguidedlife.blogspot.com/2018/08/he-restoreth-my-soul-introduction.html
When all is said and done, I find it interesting that there are good LDS therapists on both sides of the "porn/sex as addiction" debate. Unfortunately, I think it adds a lot of confusion to a topic where science and religion and morality get all tangled up and it becomes difficult to know how much of what is science and how much is religion.
I have a copy of Brother Hiltons excellent book, and have also given a copy to a local Roman Catholic priest who deals a lot with people addicted to pornography. After hearing a presentation by Bro. Hilton at a stake fireside several years ago, I volunteered to teach classes on Addiction Recovery and Healing, and conducted my stake program for two years. From him, I got a copy of his slide that illustrates the physical differences between a normal brain and an addicted brain; I gave a copy of it to each person who attended my class, to show what an addicted person has to deal with. Again, an excellent book.
