This reminds me of my experiences doing temple recommend interviews as a bishop and stake president. Some people made very light of some very bad sins; others were devastated by some relatively small sins. For some, they should come to understand that the Lord wants to forgive them and that they should have confidence that He has. Others need to feel that forgiveness is not so easy and requires more repentance.

Addictions to idolatry are our main setback in Israel. We are addicted to comfort found in laziness and different levels of love for the works of our hands. Media, food, art, sports and work comforts us more easily than true discipleship and mercy. So for me - I have been seeking the wisdom to renew a Holy Relationship with God daily. Being a reflection of Christ in whatever little way He shows me is my reward. Whatever level of idolatry I may be involved in becomes overwhelmed in an amazing display of God's mysterious mercy. I am less SELF righteous.

Thank you! I needed to hear this today. I consider it a tender mercy from The Lord.
