You forgot Shel Silverstein

To add to the list: " A Moon in Your Lunch Box" by Michael Spooner. I used this book with reluctant reader, ESL students, and selective mutes and for simple fun in the classroom. In conjunction with reading is writing, and for that Haiku is perfect. Read Basho, then give kids old calendar pictures and have at it. Great fun!...Easily develops love of poetry in kids.
