Loved this article and as a parent educator, I really like your recommendations. I would also add anything by Dr. Gordon Neufeld, who focuses on the attachment paradigm. He wants to help parents see how children develop, and then with that insight, we can make the best decisions for our children by ourselves (I would add "with heavenly help!). The other person who has written a lot of good insights based on Dr. Neufeld's attachment paradigm is Dr. Deborah Macnamara. https://macnamara.ca/kids-best-bet-blog/ But the best expert on your child is you! Trust your heart and the Holy Ghost. YOU are your child's best bet! Heavenly Father gave her to you because He knows you will be the very best parents for her. God bless!

I agree with your list of books, Geoff. In line with those you have recommended, I would add Bringing Up Our Children in Light and Truth by Goddard and The Soft-Spoken Parent by Goddard. Thank you for all your good work!

This was a great response with some excellent resources that we have found helpful as well. We have been taken back by how many parents enable their kids' bad behavior and don't allow them to be responsible. Probably one of the most valuable pieces of parenting advise I ever received was "don't try to be the Holy Ghost for your kids". Let them learn to go to the Source. My teens and adults children are surprised by how many of their peers don't know basic life skills or how to make decisions because it was done for them. Or who are entitled and the center of their universe in the name of providing every opportunity. There is definitely a lot of conflicting advice out there. But the gospel is the best measuring stick. There is so much valuable parenting advice in General Conference!

I'm so glad Geoff included 'The Child Whisperer' on his list! That's what I was going to recommend and do so highly. (and as a side note - 'It's Just My Nature' also by Carol Tuttle should be in every home, college/missionary apartment, workplace and on every wedding gift list)
