Author, educator and explorer Joseph Allen has spent over forty years in research and writing about, and traveling through Mesoamerica analyzing the ancient pre-Classic and early Classic civilizations in relation to the ancient records relating to that area. His formal education is centered in ancient scripture and history along with culture and language of the pre-Conquest peoples of Mexico and Central America. He has escorted over 200 groups and traveled over a million and a half miles though the jungles and mountains of Guatemala, Belize, Chiapas, Tabasco, Yucatan, Oaxaca, Veracruz and the Alta Plano of Mexico. His life has been focused on investigating the ancient archaeological sites of Mesoamerica that date from 2600 B.C. to A.D. 400. He is the author of several books and articles and is editor of the Book of Mormon Archaeological Digest. He is the founder of the Tula Book of Mormon Archaeological Foundation. In 1970, Dr. Allen organized a tour company that pioneered the trail for Book of Mormon tours to Mesoamerica.
