A film highlighting the Mormon Tabernacle Choir, which celebrates its 75th anniversary this year, will be one of three programs of musical entertainment at the Washington D.C. Temple Visitors’ Center in the next few weeks.
The first program will be an evening of Latin American music and dancing, which will be performed by Mariachis, singers, and dance groups from more than 13 Latin American countries. This lively musical celebration will begin at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, October 22, with encore performances on Saturday and Sunday, October 23 and 24, at 7 p.m.
Chinese tenor Jingma Fan will join the Washington D.C. Mormon Choir on Saturday, October 30, at 7 p.m. Mr. Fan has won numerous awards and has performed throughout the world. He delights audiences with his voice and his vivid characterizations.
The 75th anniversary of the Mormon Tabernacle Choir will be commemorated with a film that will be shown on Friday, November 7, at 7:30 p.m. This hour-long film will be introduced by Choir Director Lee Groberg.
President Ronald Reagan referred to the Mormon Tabernacle Choir as “America’s choir.” Walter Cronkite will narrate the personal interviews, and the film will feature reenactments and archival footage of the Choir’s performances.
