I recently read a wonderful book titled, Under The Wide and Starry Sky, about the author/poet Robert Louis Stevenson. Louis had horrible health and his wife Fanny spent their married years moving him from place to place to literally keep him alive as he wrote. She herself was a gifted writer but never had the time or opportunity to give that talent its voice. It was, at times, a thorn of contention to her.

It may be challenging as a spouse to hold back ones own talents in order to support the other.

This is my question.   If you have experienced this in your life, how have you managed in supporting the ‘one’ while maintaining your own sense of self OR how have you been able to pursue your own unique talents and gifts….together?
